Blurb

A haunting journey through the shadows of Malate and the weight of a love that refuses to stay buried, exploring the thin line between devotion and a chilling supernatural obsession.

Chanel – The Girl with Red-Streaked Hair and a Heart Caught Between Worlds.

When Leon de Magallanes vanishes without a trace, seventeen-year-old Chanel is left with a hole in her life that no amount of defiant red lipstick can hide. But when he suddenly reappears—paler, colder, and claiming a miraculous recovery from a horrific crash—Chanel’s relief quickly turns to unease.

In the dim light of Café Adriatico, a terrifying truth begins to unfurl. While Chanel sees a lover returned, the world sees a girl talking to shadows. A visceral tale of a young girl’s descent into a covenant of blood, where the promise of “forever” carries a price that extends far beyond the grave.

The Story

Mandy nearly toppled off her ‘monobloc’ chair when Chanel shrieked without warning, clutching her phone as if it had just bitten her. “Leon messaged me—out of nowhere!”

Mandy stared at her, horrified. “Dios mío. After disappearing for months, he suddenly pops up like nothing happened? The nerve of that guy.”

“I know, I know,” Chanel said, pressing the phone to her chest. “I should be furious. I should be throwing curses at the ceiling. But when his name lit up on my screen last night… I just felt happy. Stupid, right?”

The Vanishing

Leon had been Chanel’s constant, her future neatly imagined. Then one day, he vanished. No calls. No messages. No trace. As if he had dissolved into the humid Manila air like a soap bubble bursting soundlessly. Friends whispered theories: another woman, another city, another life. Chanel believed them because believing was easier than hoping. And yet—despite everything—Leon still lived somewhere inside her, stubborn and alive.

The T-Back

“So,” her gay friend Lee said casually from the driver’s seat, grinning at her reflection in the rearview mirror, “is the T-back ready?” Chanel froze mid-touch-up. “Don’t insult my intelligence,” Lee continued. “That backless dress? That soft ‘balayage’ hair? You expect me to believe you’re not planning to devastate the man?”

The Truth in the Shadows

The reunion at Café Adriatico was not the healing moment Chanel expected. Leon sat alone, draped in black, looking almost translucent. He spoke of a coma and a long hospital stay, but as the night progressed, the inconsistencies began to bleed through. The staff’s pitying looks, the raw gash on his leg that never seemed to dry, and the chilling realization that no one else could see the man sitting across from her.
